Tatiiana's Section

In this part of the website, you will find the projects and research I am currently working on as well as finished projects and their notes. It is scarce at the moment but I promise it will continue to grow! A little about me:

Photo courtesy of XristinaSCA Name: Tatiiana Ivanova Belosel'skaia (pronounced byel-a-SYEL-sky-ya), loosely translated my name means: Tatiiana, daughter to John, of the white fields.

Although my name is Russian, I attempt to recreate 14th century England. I intend to look into Russian history and clothing in the future.

Heraldry: Pean, a seahorse argent crined and finned or, three quatrefoils argent in chief.

SCA Area: Kingdom of Ealdormere, Barony of Skraeling Althing, Canton of Caldrithig

First SCA Event: Feast of the Hare in 1996, I remember dancing with Bailey!

Pennsic: Although I am not attending this year, I can usually be found camping with House No House.

Primary Interests: Calligraphy, Tapestry Weaving

Secondary Interests: Illumination, Clothing, Painting, Heraldic Display, Food History

Like many others, I suffer from the too many interests, too little time syndrome. As a result of said syndrome, most of the projects on these pages will be related to my primary interests. I do strive to challenge myself to use more period techniques and materials but generally start most new interests with any which way I can.

Outside of the SCA: In September, I am finishing my last semester in Computer Programming studies at Algonquin College. Meanwhile, I am working with the Federal Government as a student with the Canadian Education Savings Program. I would explain what I do, but I can't seem to convey any excitement, although it frequently is. You'll have to trust that I enjoy my job.

I have many interests and loves including candy-making (only theory yet), pysanky (aka Ukrainian Easter Eggs), knitting, running, digital photography, and Lush. I also take weekly violin/fiddle lessons at the Ottawa Folklore Centre.

I am also embarking on some new projects of the "geekier" type. I am working to develop my skills in Perl and PHP and learn to create dynamic webpages. At the moment, the major project on the table is to create a database for the movie collection. After a year away from school, I am starting to lose the lingo and the skills, this is geared to change that. Java is another language I need to tackle soon.
